We specialize in integral human development by combining long-term social support and emergency humanitarian aid with youth empowerment programs and peace-building initiatives

Welcome to the official website of the Humanité Nouvelle Lebanon association. Founded in 1988 by a group of the Focolare Movement members, to provide institutional tools to support activities during the civil war. It has been sustained by the work of volunteers to foster fraternity among people, dialogue, and peace. Engaged on various fronts, it has supported all kinds of actions in favour of displaced persons, for the formation of a culture of unity, and to be close to people in need.

  • The association persistently combats the devastating effects of crises and economic instability by addressing concrete needs, including sustained support for vulnerable families and chronic patients through programs like Parrainage Liban and medical aid, as well as engaging in major reconstruction efforts following events such as the 2020 Beirut port explosion

    • To serve as a beacon of hope and solidarity, inspired by the principles of the Focolare Movement.

    • To contribute to the unity of the human family and promote universal brotherhood.

    • To address pressing societal challenges by combating inequalities, fostering social inclusion, and advocating for peace, human rights, and environmental sustainability.

    • A Lebanon where every individual can live with dignity, equality, and respect, regardless of their background.

    • A society built on the values of fraternity, cooperation, and mutual respect, where diversity is celebrated, and all voices are heard.

    • To create positive change and build a more inclusive and harmonious community through dialogue, collaboration, and grassroots initiatives.

35 years of actions

for Lebanon

1988 - 1990

The association was created in 1988 as an official way to continue the humanitarian activities to host the displaced from the south and to open a dispensary.

Biaqut
People arriving from the south were welcomed, and a dressmaking workshop and a dispensary for basic needs were opened. This action took place from 1988 to 1990. Janine Safa recounts that during a time of full war, groups of families were fleeing the fighting in the mountains of Southern Lebanon, arriving in tragic conditions. She and her companions felt helpless witnessing the great pain of these people: a man devastated by the death of his only son, a woman crying for her husband, a young pregnant mother about to give birth, and families who were homeless.

The guiding principle that motivated their action was the thought: "What if it were my brother?"

1991 - 1995

Action “Main ouvertes” Aid received from Médecins Sans Frontières and used for a form of microcredit. Part of it is returned and reinvested.
